What is somatic coaching?

Have you ever felt caught in the same patterns – emotionally, in relationships, or in your body – and no amount of thinking seems to shift it?

Somatic coaching invites a different kind of listening – not just to your thoughts, but to your whole experience.

It’s grounded in the understanding that wisdom lives not only in the mind, but also in the body.
Tension, hesitation, impulses, and emotions are all signals. When we slow down and pay attention, we can begin to understand what they’re pointing toward.

This work is rooted in humanistic psychology – the belief that every person holds an innate capacity for growth, healing, and change.

It draws from the insights of Carl Rogers, Fritz Perls, and Abraham Maslow,  and is expanded through the lens of Somatic Experiencing®, developed by Dr. Peter Levine.

This method focuses on completing blocked defensive responses and releasing excess activation that has remained “stuck” in the nervous system following experiences of stress or trauma.

In somatic coaching, we work with your felt sense – sensations, movements, emotions, impulses, and meaning – what Thomas Hanna called the “soma”: the body as it is experienced from within.

Through this process, you can:

  • Regulate stress and emotional overwhelm
  • Reconnect with yourself with more ease and compassion
  • Shift long-held patterns in a grounded and embodied way
  • Make choices that feel true, not just logical


Somatic coaching doesn’t push for quick fixes.
It invites presence, awareness, and the kind of change that grows from within – and lasts.
